Lemmings Wiki

Tilesets or styles are the sets of graphical assets used to compose levels in most games of the Lemmings series. Each individual level uses assets from one specific tileset available in the game. Tilesets can include graphics for terrain, water, traps, Exits, Entrances, and/or the background.

Lemmings[]

In Lemmings, five main tilesets are present:

Every level in the game uses one of these tilesets except for the four special-graphic crossover levels.

In the 2006 remake of the game, the tileset used by the level also determines which music tracks can play. Each tileset has three tracks; any of these three tracks has a chance to play when a level is loaded.

Oh No! More Lemmings[]

In Oh No! More Lemmings, four different tilesets are present:

  • Bubble: This style features blue veiny bubbles, blue spherical platforms, yellow metal pipes, and blue rods interlocking to form grids. Traps found in this theme include the Plasma Ray Trap and Vacuum Tube Trap.
  • Construction: This style features red bricks with white mortar, gray chains, red barrels, and dark gray steel platforms. Traps found in this theme include the Grinder Trap and Pounder Trap.
  • Rock: This style features gray rocks, green moss, green crystals, and tall brown trees. Traps found in this theme include the Chameleon Trap and Vine Trap.
  • Snow: This style features white snow sheets, bright tan rocks, blue icicles, and teal steel blocks. Traps found in this theme include Ice Spike Trap and Steam blower Trap.

Xmas Lemmings[]

For the vast majority of Xmas Lemmings 1991, Xmas Lemmings 1992, Holiday Lemmings 1993, and Holiday Lemmings 1994, there is only one theme: Xmas.

The only other themes featured in these games are taken from Oh No! More Lemmings. There are two Construction levels in Xmas Lemmings 1991 and one Rock level in Holiday Lemmings 1994.

Lemmings 2: The Tribes[]

In Lemmings 2: The Tribes, each of the twelve Tribes has its own single tileset, used in all levels of that Tribe.

Notably, the Classic Tribe re-uses the Egyptian tileset from the first game (although ironically there also is a separate Egyptian Tribe with its own tileset).

3D Lemmings[]

In 3D Lemmings, ten different tilesets are present: Army, Castle, Circus, Computer, Egyptian, Golf, Lego, Maze, Space, and Sweet land. Traps are not necessarily associated with one tileset.

Lemmings (PS3)[]

In Lemmings (PS3), two tilesets are present: a mansion-themed tileset and a machine-themed tileset. As with the 2006 remake of the original game, each tileset is associated with three music tracks, each of which has a chance to play when a level is loaded.

Lemmings Tribes[]

In Lemmings Tribes, each of the three Tribes has its own single tileset, used in all levels of that Tribe.

Lemmings Touch[]

In Lemmings Touch, five tilesets are used. Three of them - Ancient Egypt, Crystal Cave, and Hell - are used only for levels borrowed from the Lemmings remake, while the remaining two - Candy Land and Space - are used for the game's exclusive levels. The three returning tilesets use the same three tracks as their counterparts in the Lemmings remake, while the two new tilesets have two tracks each.
