The Far Side is the twelfth level of the Mayhem difficulty in Lemmings.
Strategy[]
This level defines the "so close, yet, so far" phrase flawlessly! One steel wall separates your Lemmings from freedom - you have to get around. Time and percentage are against you!
Turn the first Lemming into a Climber as he's heading left to get out of the steel pit. Turn the second Lemming into a Builder to begin the bridge that will enable the others to escape later. Raise the release rate to 99. When your Lemming arrives to the earth between the steel plates, use a Digger skill. Wait for him to dig under the left steel plate, and use a Basher skill. Allow him to fall onto the floating earth island, and use another Digger skill when reaching the earth part between the two steel plates. Dig about halfway, then use a Builder skill to turn him around, then a Miner ability to reach that tiny piece of ground under the island. Once there, start building a bridge until you reach solid ground.
Have your lone Lemming use a Basher skill on the ground to pass through the gap in the steel wall. Once the Basher is done, finish the ramp holding the other Lemmings back. Use your trailblazer Lemming to build up the staircase to the exit. It should start right where the bashing stopped to minimize Builder skill usage. You should have 14 Builder skills left by this time, which is more than enough. By the time the swarm of your Lemmings catch up with your Builder, the ramp is complete, and none of them shall fall out of the level. Finish up the ramp as quickly as possible, and let your Lemmings to the exit. You might well to do it with 20 seconds left on the timer.
