The Crankshaft is the thirtieth and final level of the Tricky difficulty in Lemmings.
Strategy[]
Turn the first four lemmings into Athletes, then have the fifth mine through the column. To create a safe turn-around point for your Athletes later, have the sixth lemming mine down when he's heading left and build once the tunnel is deep enough.
Have the third Athlete mine through the third column, which will cause the fourth Athlete to turn around. Have the fourth Athlete mine down to the left when he's about halfway back to the second column. If you have done this correctly, he will continue into the floor; once he has gone down far enough that the overhang prevents him climbing out, build so he turns back to the right. Otherwise, it may be necessary for one of the other lemmings to build up to the tunnel using one Builder skill.
Repeat this process for the fifth and fourth columns using the first and second Athletes. There isn't a lot of time on the clock so raise the release rate to 99. 100% of your lemmings will then march to the exit.
ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC strategy[]
Have the first lemming mine through the first pillar while the second lemming is turned into a Blocker to hold the others back. Have your Trailblazer build over the gap and up to the next pillar by stretching out the bridge as much as possible so that only four Builder skills are used.
Once he has reached the pillar, have your Trailblazer climb over it. Have it build against the pillar before the exit to turn him around and let him climb to the top of the previous pillar. Then make him mine down to reach his ramp as so that the other lemmings can bypass the pillar. Let your Climber hit the Blocker so he turns back to the right, then bomb the Blocker. Have your Climber mine through the last pillar to reach the exit.
