So close but so far away is the seventh level of the Classic Tribe in Lemmings 2: The Tribes.
Gold medal strategy[]
Make the first lemming a Climber then make him an Exploder when he's standing above the right edge of the thicker portion of the platform before the wooden wall. With the wooden wall now breached, send another Climber to the left and have him build over the pit and towards the thicker portion of the breakable wall. Bash through the wall and make him build as soon as he drops onto the other side of the pillars. Meanwhile, make one of the lemmings held back a Blocker on the thinner portion of the starting platform.
When your Trailblazer has been assigned its third Builder skill, make one of the lemmings to the left of the Blocker and Climber. When your Trailblazer has been assigned its fourth Builder skill and has placed his seventh tile, make him a Blocker. When the second Climber is turned back left by that Blocker, make it continue building to get on top of the steel (this should only take two Builders). Have your second Climber bash through the first obstacle he encounters while another lemming to the left of the Blocker is made a Climber.
Let the second Climber walk over the second obstacle but make it mine through the third. As soon as he steps off the steel and onto breakable terrain, have it dig until he has passed the top steel layer, then make the Blocker among the lemmings held back explode. Just before the Digger is past the last steel block, make him an Exploder too to stop him from digging too far. When the third Climber arrives in that tunnel and turns left, have it build over the gap so that there is a safe ramp to the exit.
100% strategy[]
This strategy only works on the Game Boy and Game Gear versions.
Send a Climber to the left and have him build over the pit to the longer portion of the wall. Bash through and let him turn around at the overhang. Build up to the steel floor. Bash through the first obstacle then mine through the second. When he reaches the breakable terrain before the water, make him dig so that he is right next to the steel wall. Make him build once he is next to the opening, then build to the exit. Release the other lemmings by having one of them dig through the floor.
