No time for a detour is the sixth level of the Present difficulty in the Genesis/Mega Drive port of Lemmings.

Strategy[]

It looks like all the Lemmings can walk directly to the Exit portal. But as the name implies, there is no time for them to detour around the terrain in the middle. They have to find a way to cut through this terrain as a shortcut.

Mine through the terrain, so that the Miner's tunnel will end where the ceiling is flat. Place a Blocker just left of where the Lemmings fall from the upper level, to stop them from walking to the far left. You are allowed to let two Lemmings die, one being the Blocker, and another being one of the lemmings who accidentally walks left at the end of the Miner's tunnel. If needed, you can turn a left-bound Lemming around with a Builder.

100% strategy[]

Make Lemming #3 a Blocker at the peak of one of the earliest diagonal brick formations on the upper level. Turn around Lemming #2 on the right-most brick formation, so he can walk back and eventually bash under the Blocker. Let the first Lemming be the Trailblazer who proceeds to cut the path alone. When the first Lemming gets to the lower level, become a Digger. Dig down deep enough so no Lemmings can escape the hole, and then become a Miner. By the time Lemming #2 bashes under the Blocker, enough of the Digger/Miner path will be complete to stop the Lemmings from turning around.
