Curse of the Pharaohs is the ninth level of the Mayhem difficulty in Lemmings. It is also the twenty-eighth level of the Hard difficulty in Lemmings Touch.
Strategy[]
Assign a Blocker to the first Lemming near the pillar's edge. Assign a Basher to any Lemming facing left to destroy a block next to it. Assign a Basher to any Lemming next to the tall wall block on the steel floor. Assign one more Basher to any Lemming directly next to the larger obstacle in front of the staircase-shaped blocks.
To get the Lemmings to the upper floor, allow them to fall into the gap in the broken staircase block, then assign a Builder to any Lemming near the wall inside this area to build out of it. In the original game, the Builder must begin so that it runs into this wall, where it must be assigned a Builder again; by contrast, in the remake or Lemmings Touch, it can instead face the bottom staircase-shaped block. Assign a Builder to any left-facing Lemming at the top point of this staircase block, then keep assigning it Builders until it reaches the wooden beam.
Assign a Basher to any Lemming next to the pyramid just below the steel segments. Once it reaches the other end, assign a Builder skill to the Basher to build a staircase toward the wall. Assign a Builder to a right-facing Lemming near this staircase's end. Finally, assign a Builder to a left-facing Lemming near the new staircase's end. Its staircase should reach a wooden beam, where all walking Lemmings will reach the Exit. If necessary, assign an Exploder to, or Nuke, the Blocker.
100% solution[]
Turn the first Lemming into a Blocker after it has taken several steps from the Entrance but before it gets too close to the right edge of the pillar. Have the second Lemming build over the pillar's knob with one brick being enough to have the Lemmings get over it. Begin bashing through the obstacles, including the bottom of the broken stairs. Build up to the wooden platform cutting through the pyramid starting from where the bottom of the stairs once stood.
Raise the release rate to 99 and have the very last Lemming dig before it gets too close to the Blocker. Once the Digger has shaved off 9 pixels of ground, have it Bash to release the Blocker. The former Blocker should hit the end of the Basher's tunnel and turn around so have it build out of the hole create by the last Lemming. Turn the Basher into a Builder to turn it around, and repeat for the former Blocker should it turn back to the right.
Use a Basher skill on the pyramid just below the steel segments. When the tunneling is done, build in a zigzag to reach the exit.
Version differences[]
- Atari Lynx
- Only has 40 Lemmings, and 39 must be saved.
- Release rate is 99.
- There is one less obstacle to bash through and a completed stairway leads to the pyramid.
- The shaft leading to the exit is narrower.
- Macintosh and Microsoft Windows
- Only has 80 Lemmings, and 79 must be saved.
- 2006 Remake
- 6 minute time limit.
- 2006 Remake and Lemmings Touch
- Bottom broken staircase-shaped block is shorter, so a single Builder staircase can reach its top.

Notes[]
- This level's map is also used in level 29 of the Fun difficulty of the original game, Worra lorra Lemmings.
- This level is named after "the curse of the pharaohs", a curse that is referenced in various popular culture which is alleged to be inflicted unto someone who interacts with the mummy of an ancient Egyptian (or particularly a pharaoh).
